Character Name: Allie Stoklasa

Race: Terran
OU/AU: AU
Preferred Rank: Ensign
Position: Engineering
Personality: Though rebellious and incredibly disrespectful in her youth, Allie has since mellowed out largely through Jin's influence and the passage of time. She's learned to take responsibility for her own failings, and can admit that as a kid she was 'a real piece of shit.' She's gone to counseling in an attempt to rein in her temper and tendency to retaliate on impulse. While she wouldn't claim she regrets her past choices, she can admit honestly that she was in the wrong. Counseling has helped her to reconcile a lot of what she went through as a child and a teenager, that even if her actions weren't wrong, she wasn't given the proper tools to know what was right either.
Being accepted wasn't something she was really used to, and she's starting to both appreciate and like the company of real friends. It's stirred up a sense of protectiveness inside of her, and that's fairly new. Even with Jin she didn't feel like she had to stand up for him, she just found it annoying that he was being judged on something stupid such as liking 'weird cartoons and music.'
Allie is still growing as a person, and going through the process of little gradual changes as she shifts toward a greater emotional maturity. Her tendency to speak bluntly has been tempered by a sense of friendship where she's more likely to just stay quiet and shrug off annoyances instead of rising up to fight back.
Strengths: Allie is independent and self-sufficient. She doesn't really get lonely, and actually appreciates having time to herself. When she sets her mind to something and really applies herself, there's almost nothing she can't do. She can fade into a crowd pretty easily, able to keep her head down with no need to draw any sort of attention to herself. Though she doesn't have book smarts, she has a good grasp of mechanics and figuring out how machines work as well as how to fix them. She doesn't count very many people as real friends, but the ones she does trust will have her absolute loyalty and protection.
Flaws: Allie had a horrible temper, and resorted to violence almost always. She's easily provoked, and incredibly aggressive. She has a tough time following orders, and while she doesn't want to be a leader herself, she also doesn't like following someone else's lead. She found that to be the hardest part about adapting to Starfleet, but if paired with an understanding superior officer who gave directions rather than orders, she excelled at her work. If she's not being treated as an equal, she gets prickly. Though she doesn't mind being in crowded public places, she isn't likely to pick up new friends or initiate casual conversations. She has difficulties relating to others, and expressing her sorrow as anything other than anger. When she's stressed or upset, she becomes irritable and unpleasant. This has lessened somewhat as she's grown older, but given the right circumstances, she might not see much reason NOT to get angry and cut loose. Allie also lacks ordinary levels of compassion. She might be sorry a person is having a hard time, but if she can't solve the problem, she doesn't see the point of being involved. She's awkward and unsure what to do around people who cry, and can offer little more than a stiff pat on the head.
History: Allie was put up for adoption in a foster care program when she was an infant. She bounced from house to house, growing more jaded over people's sincerity. Their love was always conditional, never permanent. She realized she was chosen often because of the color of her hair. Sometimes she was chosen because of religious obligation 'to care for the children by sacrificing their own comfort and resources'. All it took was one or two bad acts from her, and all those promises of love and family fell apart in the blink of an eye. So Allie continued to push the boundaries, breaking rules, quietly daring her families to keep her in spite of what she did if they really loved her so much. At fifteen she brought a stolen hunting knife to school, and was expelled as a result. Her foster father yelled at her for an hour, and when he left her room, she stuffed a backpack with clothes, stole the cash from her foster mother's purse, and ran away. No one came looking for her.
For the next four years she lived on the streets, making friends with other delinquents who had also abandoned their lives to take chances on their own. She fell into bad habits -- drinking, vandalism, smoking (although she gave up that one after a week, as cigarettes were a pain in the ass to steal and tasted like garbage), theft, and fighting. She was an angry teenager with a chip on her shoulder, and no direction in life save to survive.
About a year after living on her own, Allie became acquainted with a skinny Japanese-American kid named Jin, two years older than she was. He maintained an auto garage that his father had managed before he passed away of cirrhosis, and was usually the go-to for hiding and re-painting stolen cars and motorcycles. Being somewhat 'less cool' than the other gang members, he was often teased and mocked for his interest in Japanese pop culture (anime, J-rock), as well as other interests that they felt didn't match his personality (why did he enjoy rap so much?). He bore it all with a smile. Allie, however, never made any cutting remarks at his expense, and when he noticed this he asked her if she liked the same things he did. She said that wasn't the case; she just didn't care what he liked or disliked. He invited her to watch one of his shows, and she had no objections to it.
He explained that he wanted to know more about Japan, where his parents had come from. He only knew a little Japanese, mostly angry words his father muttered when he'd been drunk. Though Allie didn't share his passions, she listened to him, and he opened up to her. It was a new experience for her. Nearly everyone else she'd met had always condescended in some manner, and even if it was done with good intentions, she'd resented it just the same. Jin was lonely, and honest, and he talked to her the way he would an old friend. It felt good. He asked her if she wanted to live at the shop with him, and when she asked why, he shrugged and replied, "I like hanging out with you." There was no mention of pity or worry. It wasn't a handout. She accepted with gratitude.
For four years they worked together, and he taught her what he knew of auto mechanics -- not just how to hot wire and break into cars, but how to fix them, maintain them, and add upgrades that would increase their value to a prospective buyer. Allie, who had never performed well in school, took to his teachings like a duck to water. The two were close friends, and as time went on, both began to realize that they weren't content to keep living a life of theft. Repairing cars turned out to be more profitable, and after Allie was nearly beaten to death by a group of thugs who thought Jin had ratted one of their members out, they decided to pull out of the car jacking business completely. They abandoned Rock Springs, selling the garage and using the money to open up a place of their own in a small town in north Colorado. They decided on a plan: one would work, while the other pursued a career in Starfleet, then they would switch with the money earned from Starfleet to support a second education. With Jin being the more experienced mechanic, Allie got her education first.
After a little file 'tampering' with her friends, Allie's bio stated a false and strike-free high school record along with high grades she definitely never earned. This was all well and good for the first two years, until she was caught. She wasn't about to slink away in shame, knowing Jin was depending on her to make it first, so she pleaded with a favorite instructor, telling him that she knew she wouldn't have been admitted if Starfleet knew she was a dropout. All she wanted was a chance to prove herself, and she pointed out that her grades now were much better, and that she "only" got into two fights. The instructor was sympathetic and took her case to the board; tentatively, they agreed to let her stay on, requiring an extra year of schooling to see if she could measure up to her promised potential.
She did. Allie was a bright and talented student, with the guts and courage needed to make it out in space. She was nearly held back again after getting into a third fist fight with a rival cadet, but upon review, they decided the best thing for it was to ship her out and let her stretch her legs. So it was that she was shipped off to the U.S.S. Enterprise to begin her first assignment.
Physical Description: Tall at 5'8", and a little on the lean, sinewy side. Ordinarily she slouches and keeps to herself, aware that she can be intense and even intimidating when she focuses her full attention on someone. There's a hardness about her physical features. Her grey-green eyes, normally placid, are quick to flash with anger or frustration. Her lightly-freckled complexion is pale and smooth, but for a light scar on the left side of her face stretching from the jawline to about an inch below the eye. Her hands are strong, palms and fingertips rough to the touch. Her waist-length fiery red curls are normally clipped back into a loose bun when on duty, tied back with a long sash when relaxing.

Allie can sense the presence of supernatural beings and gauge roughly how strong their power is. Ghosts (and the dead) may seem drawn toward her (feel free to make up the reason, it's usually to pose a last request but it could also be an unexplaind need to be in her company or outright hostility). Let me know if you want to opt-out, we can just say that the difference between her world and your character's is different enough that she can't get a good read.

NAME: Allie Stoklasa
CANON: OC
CANON POINT: About two months employed at the Ghost Getters (business name still TBD).
AGE: 32
BACKGROUND: Allie was put up for adoption in a foster care program when she was an infant. For as long as she can remember, she's been able to see ghosts plainly even when they don't attempt to manifest visually. Because this ability was always with her, she didn't realize any difference between the living and the dead, and didn't know it was peculiar to spend time with the young ghost boy who wandered through her room at night. He was her first friend, and the two talked and played together. When her mother asked her why she was making so much noise so late at night, Allie answered honestly: she was playing with Tim. Tim was the late son of her adopted parents, who had drowned in a ditch ten years ago. Her mother began to sob uncontrollably and would lock herself in the bathroom. Frightened that his wife would regress into a suicidal state once more, he demanded that Allie stop lying, unsettled by how she would even know about their son. Allie was frustrated and insisted that it was true, her stubbornness unhinging her mother more and more.
It became clear to her father that if she stayed, his wife might very well take her own life, so it was with regret that he gave Allie up into the foster system once more with the gift of a large pony plush toy. In her second family, she had to put up with siblings, bossy ones at that. Allie wasn't content to be pushed around, and when she refused to surrender her pony to her older sister, it was taken from her forcefully. Allie jumped on her sister and punched her three times in the face. Back into foster care she went.
She bounced from house to house, growing more jaded over people's sincerity. Their love was always conditional, never permanent. She realized she was chosen often because of the color of her hair. Sometimes she was chosen because of religious obligation.
All the while, she continued to see ghosts. By this point she had learned the difference between the living and the dead, and ignored the spirits that seemed to be drawn to her for reasons she couldn't rationalize. She'd had it with people calling her crazy or stupid when she was still trusting enough to talk to other people about what she saw, so she pretended the ghosts didn't exist.
They decided on a plan: one would work, while the other pursued a GED, then they would switch. With Jin being the more experienced mechanic, Allie got her education first. However, a few short months after it was Jin's turn to study, he was killed in a car crash.
It was the first time Allie ever felt true remorse and sorrow. For two years she tried to keep up with the garage herself to preserve all of the hard work Jin had put into it, but found that she missed him too much. What was worse, she was starting to feel the presence of a new spirit in the shop, and that just wasn't something she was prepared to face. She packed a bag, fueled up the restored motorcycle Jin had given her for her 22nd birthday, and drove off.
For ten years she went from city to city, from Reno to Los Angeles to Boise to Seattle to Portland. She worked a variety of odd jobs wherever the pay was good. Her blunt and brusque personality got her fired a few times, especially when she would butt heads with her managers. When she first met Kit, Lorenzo, Rose, and Jevon, Allie was working as a camera operator for a popular field reporter who had called the Ghost Getters with complaints of being haunted by spirits. In truth, they were drawn to Allie and acted out when she refused to pay them any attention. But while they were investigating, Allie noticed that one of the members, Rose (Kit's older sister), was possessed by an extremely powerful type of spirit. At first she decided not to get involved. It wasn't any of her business, so she pulled down the brim of her cap and kept silent. Once it became clear that 'Rose' was capturing innocent spirits along with the malevolent ghosts, Allie realized that keeping quiet wasn't an option anymore. Jin could have been one of those ghosts who eventually fell into the entity's grasp. She warned Jevon (who seemed to have the least personal attachment to Rose), who in turn informed the others in secret. They devised a plan to drive the spirit out of Rose with Allie's help, and though it was a close fight, the attempt was successful. Rose, now of whole mind, resigned from her position as a Ghost Getter in lieu of becoming the group's financial backer and manager. They offered the open spot to Allie. She declined at first, saying they didn't owe her. Lorenzo said it was more than that; they liked her.
She joined the team and moved into headquarters the next day.
Little by little she got to know the others. Kit was probably the first female friend that Allie ever had, and didn't seem to bat a lash when Allie said her hobbies and interests involved 'fixing things like cars and shit.' As a technological tinkerer herself, Kit worked closely with Allie on a number of projects, and Allie found that she liked being involved. Lorenzo reminded her an awful lot of Jin, almost to the point where it was uncomfortable. He was a big fan of music, outgoing and gregarious, and didn't seem phased at all with Allie's blunt responses. She didn't care for Jevon at first, finding him stuffy and privileged. When she learned he'd been disinherited for his stubborn pursuit in paranormal psychology, she found herself respecting him a little more. He was well versed in human psychology as well, and when he called her out more than once on her behavior, she begrudgingly agreed to be his 'test patient' for trying to soothe the troubled psyche of the dead in order to allow them peace and a final rest. Unknown to Allie, Jevon began developing tender feelings for her the more he was able to coax her into talking about herself.
PERSONALITY: Though rebellious and incredibly disrespectful in her youth, Allie has since mellowed out largely through Jin's influence and the passage of time. She's learned to take responsibility for her own failings, and can admit that as a kid she was 'a real piece of shit.' She's gone to anger management classes in an attempt to rein in her temper and tendency to retaliate on impulse. While she wouldn't claim she regrets her past choices, she can admit honestly that she was in the wrong. Jevon's counseling has helped her to reconcile a lot of what she went through as a child and a teenager (though at her canon point they're only just beginning to get through her numerous barriers and faulty beliefs), that even if her actions weren't wrong, she wasn't given the proper tools to know what was right either.
As far as moonlacing goes, Allie's pretty neutral about the whole thing. She slept with a couple of people in her late teens, but more out of a need to rebel against societal expectations than out of any real need for intimacy. When it comes to sex, she can take it or leave it, and doesn't really care too much one way or the other. She'll be surprised at how much better it feels to share that kind of touch with somebody with chroma involved, and may even learn to regard moonlacing favorably in time should she develop any sort of friendship with the other moonblessed.
Strengths: Allie is independent and self-sufficient. She doesn't really get lonely, and actually appreciates having time to herself. When she sets her mind to something and really applies herself, there's almost nothing she can't do. She's can fade into a crowd pretty easily. Though she doesn't have book smarts, she has a good grasp of mechanics and figuring out how machines work as well as how to fix them. Though she doesn't count very many people as real friends, the ones she does trust will have her absolute loyalty and protection.
♥ Intellectual Talent: City savvy. Allie generally knows how to navigate through densely populated areas, whether on foot or using public transit. She makes it a point to learn important locations and landmarks, as well as which areas to avoid. With Lunatia being a thriving metropolis, she'll probably be able to fit in and adapt a lot faster than the average person, even though the technology is more advanced than what she's used to experiencing.
♥ Technical Talent: Auto mechanics. If it's got a motor, Allie can probably figure out how to make it run. This applies only to ground vehicles -- not boats, aircraft, or trains. She can readily identify most car and motorcycle brands and models. Too bad this doesn't yet apply, but if she can convince the mages to summon her motorcycle and fix it up to run on a fuel substitute, she'll be a happy camper.
♥ Physical Talent: Kickboxing. Allie's a strong girl, and she took classes to take advantage of her muscles and aggressive nature. She's not afraid to play dirty if the situation is grim enough.
♥ Interpersonal Talent: Intimidation: Allie doesn't back down from a fight, and has no trouble speaking her mind when she finds someone else's behavior unacceptable. She can easily provoke a confrontation, and has been told many times that she's "a little scary" when she's angry.
Flaws: Allie had a horrible temper, and resorted to violence almost always. She's easily provoked, and incredibly aggressive. She has a tough time following orders, and while she doesn't want to be a leader herself, she also doesn't like following someone else's lead.
♥ Intellectual Failing: Academics. Allie's interest in scholastic education is almost nonexistant. Complicated math frustrates her, and she had a difficult time remembering names and dates in history. She doesn't always spell words correctly. Best to keep her away from impressionable children, so she doesn't tell them about the wonders of skipping class.
♥ Technical Failing: Computers. She doesn't know much about modern technology, given that she couldn't afford it more often than not. Her typing is abysmal, and so is her texting if she ever manages to bother picking up a cell phone. It's unlikely she'd be able to pick up any magical talent either.
♥ Physical Failing: Skating/Dancing/etc. She's not so great at any physical activity relying more on grace or rhythm than raw strength and aggression.
♥ Interpersonal Failing: Compassion. She might be sorry a character is having a hard time, but if she can't solve the problem, she doesn't see the point of being involved. She's awkward and unsure what to do around people who cry, and can offer little more than a stiff pat on the head.
POWERS/ABILITIES: Allie knows nothing about the origins of her ability to see and sense the presence of supernatural beings (primarily ghosts, but also other things that don't necessarily belong on the plane of the living such as demons), nor does she know why beings of this nature seem subconsciously drawn to her. While she can't spit out exact statistics and specifications, or immediately identify what something is, she knows if something supernatural is there and has a pretty good idea of how powerful it is. That doesn't necessarily mean she knows which entities are malevolent and which are peaceful. Honestly she thinks it's more annoying than useful.
In the course of her story, she may eventually learn where her power came from and how to strengthen it, but in Prismatica those circumstances aren't going to come up.
INVENTORY: Toolkit, suitcase of comfortable clothes, a carry-case of Jin's old mix-CDs, a psychoplasmic destabilizer (basically a proton pack), and two ectoplasmic containers (ghost traps).

Hugging: I'm fine with it. Allie will be awkward and confused.
Kissing: See above.
Flirting: NO NOT ALLOWED of course you can flirt.
Fighting: Bring it on. Allie's a brawler and aspiring kickboxer, she could use the practice.
Injuring: Comes with the business. As long as she's not getting maimed or tortured, go for it.
Killing: Ask first. As long as she's not getting killed off every Sunday, I'll probably say yes.
Telepathy/Mind-reading: She doesn't have any defenses against this, so sure. Do we even have any telepaths? Whatever, it's all good.
OOC
Backtagging/Slow threading: Yes.
Threadjumping: If the other person is cool with it, then so am I.
Fourth-walling: Doesn't...really apply to OC's? She's unlikely to do it to your character, unless you request it and I'm familiar with the series.

Preferred fandom ships: *snicker* i mean if you want to play one of my oc teammates sure i'll set you up
Fandom ships I will play: See above.
Fandom ships I'm uninterested in: See above.
Non-fandom ships: Cross-canon is just dandy. I'm good with cross-mediums too, as long as it isn't something SUPER cartoony/exaggerated, like Adventure Time or Gravity Falls.
Kinks: I don't really have any yet; mostly I'm trying to get a good feel for the character, so I tend to prefer things on the vanilla side. If I had a hard fast rule, I'd say story before kink - I enjoy the CR between the characters more than writing out complicated positions, if that makes sense.

Allie has a slight sixth sense regarding ghosts/spirits. She could tell when a teammate was possessed, and pointed it out. If your character is a ghost, and you want her to react a certain way, just let me know.

Name: Allie Stoklasa
Age: 32
Birthday: March 20th
Height: 5'6"
Physical Description: A redheaded tomboy with long, curly hair. She typically ties it back with whatever's handy when she's working, but when she's relaxing, she'll leave it down. She has a solid frame and average curves. Allie doesn't bother to wear make-up, and prefers to wear neutral, subdued colors as she doesn't like to stand out in a crowd. Often, she'll wear a cap and baggy clothes. Her face is angular, with sharply defined lines save for the mild arch of her brows. Her eyes are green, and she has a smattering of freckles on her cheeks and arms.
Profession/Role: Ghosthunter/Mechanic/Camera Operator (Video)

Background
Family: As far as Allie knows, she has no family to speak of. She's been a foster brat for as long as she can remember, getting bumped from household to household. She did better in homes without any other children, but often got into fights with foster siblings, which got her booted from homes pretty fast. During her teenage years she often ran away from whatever home she was assigned to, and argued with her foster parents. She may have had one or two foster siblings she got along with okay, but none she keeps in regular contact with to this day.
Education: Allie didn't graduate from high school with her peers. She went back to get her GED at her friend's urging, but her formal education is very limited, and her grades were awful. If she ever got a C, she was proud of herself.
History: Almost from the beginning, Allie was a troubled kid. She had to forge her own identity, and got angry when others tried to mold her to their standards (even if those standards were decent and fair). She was rebellious and hot tempered, and expressed her frustration with physical violence -- pushing kids she didn't like, slugging kids who were too bossy on the playground, etc. She calmed down when she was left to her own devices, but she also got bored easily and would wander off to pick fights, vandalize property, and generally be a nuisance, especially during her teenage years. She dropped out of high school when she was fifteen, and when her foster parents tried to make her go back, she brought a knife to school and made loud public threats in order to get herself expelled. She was kicked out of the house and never went back. After this time, she flitted around the city, and eventually fell in with a small gang of other young delinquents. One of these youths was a young Japanese man named Jin. He was laidback and easygoing, one of the few people Allie could tolerate and actually liked. He was also a whiz when it came to cars and motorcycles. He not only taught her how to hotwire and break into cars, but how to fix and improve them. For her 23rd birthday, he gave her a motorcycle he'd put together from scratch. It was pretty much the best present ever. As time passed, both began to grow weary of living off of other people's property. They decided to take turns getting their GED, with one working to pay the bills while the other attended classes. Allie was the first to complete her GED, but when it was Jin's turn to finish his education, he died unexpectedly after a few months due to a motorcycle accident. To honor him, Allie left the gang for good and got a job as a camera operator for a local news team.
(PDX15 history) Allie joins the team after identifying one of their team members as being possessed. After this team member was restored to normal, the others asked Allie if she wanted a job, and she took it.
Goals: Allie dreams of being an international kickboxing champion. She's also taking anger management counseling and trying to make up for her rotten behavior as a teenager.
Personality
Likes: The smell of leather, expensive cars, her motorcycle, calm people, cats, bubble baths, steak, expensive chocolate, flannel shirts, snow, sleeping in
Dislikes: Boats (gets seasick), spineless people, bossy people, Jeopardy, cornflakes and Grape-Nuts, loud parties, wearing a dress and/or high heels, rats, centipedes, temperatures above 80 F
Strengths: Allie is independent and self-sufficient. She doesn't really get lonely, and actually appreciates having time to herself. When she sets her mind to something and really applies herself, there's almost nothing she can't do. She's learned to better control her emotions, and can fade into a crowd pretty easily. She's good at her craft, and takes pride in her abilities. Allie claims that she can tell when a ghost or supernatural entity is nearby, even without a PKE meter -- the hairs on the back of her neck prickle. She wouldn't be able to pinpoint a ghost, or tell how strong it is. She just knows it's around. Though she doesn't count very many people as real friends, the ones she does trust will have her absolute loyalty and protection.
Weaknesses: Even though Allie's been working on managing her temper, it still flares up easily when provoked. She has a tough time following orders, and while she doesn't want to be a leader herself, she also doesn't like following someone else's lead. If she's not being treated as an equal, she gets prickly. Though she doesn't mind being in crowded public places, she isn't likely to pick up new friends or initiate casual conversations. She has difficulties relating to others, and expressing her sorrow as anything other than anger. Ghosthunting serves as a useful outlet for her aggression, anxiety, and other negative feelings; but if she lacks a means of destressing (like hot baths, or punching things), she becomes irritable and unpleasant.

♥ Intellectual Failing: Academics. Allie's interest in scholastic education is almost nonexistant. Complicated math frustrates her, and she had a difficult time remembering names and dates in history. She doesn't always spell words correctly.
♥ Technical Failing: Computers. She doesn't know much about modern technology, given that she couldn't afford it more often than not. Her typing is abysmal, and so is her texting.
♥ Physical Failing: Skating/Dancing. She's not so great at any physical activity relying on grace or rhythm.
♥ Interpersonal Failing: Compassion. She might be sorry a character is having a hard time, but if she can't solve the problem, she doesn't see the point of being involved. She's awkward and unsure what to do around people who cry, and can offer little more than a stiff pat on the head.
